HUCER 2025

Communities in the World of Learning

May 29-30, 2025. Debrecen
Event organizer: Hungarian Association of Education and Research Researchers
Event co-organizer: University of Debrecen, Debrecen
Additional organizer: KultúrÁsz Non-Profit Association

Conference abstract:
The conference aims to show: although learning is primarily described as an individual process, where the individual himself is enriched by knowledge, it still takes place in communities to a significant extent, and learning taking place in communities always adds something extra to a lesser or greater extent to the individual learning process, while also having a feedback effect on the various communities of life of the student. This will ensure that the learning processes will have both an individual and a communal and social impact.
The communal nature of learning can be seen in any form of learning: in formal and informal learning communities, in workplace learning communities, in our most basic community: in the family, in other informal learning taking place in the community, and vice versa: in non-formal or informal learning by communities. This is the case when, upon entering a new workplace, the workplace community socializes the new employee to the work culture there, or in various instances of cultural learning, for example, when joining a folk dance group, they not only learn folk dance, but also adopt communication, behavioral, and appearance patterns from each other. The examples are endless, and the conference aims to jointly list these examples in research: let us examine the presence of communities, their impact on the learning process, from the classic school learning community to the world of teacher communities, workplace communities, cultural communities, sports communities and other special communities (such as prison communities, church communities) to social media, then and now, and let us examine the “hidden curriculum” of communities in learning, as well as the modern responses to the new challenges affecting all of these based on research results.

The abstracts will be collected, judged and published in an electronic abstract volume.

The conference languages are Hungarian and English. Please prepare your abstract in the language in which you wish to present it.
